Final Analysis

Overall, I progressed artistically in leaps and bounds this semester. I came in knowing that I was a god awful artist who had little to no artistic ability whatsoever; my art consisted of badly drawn stick figures! But as I progressed, I see how my art became better and better, and how people around me thought that my paintings looked good. As my art grew better, so did my confidence, which broke me free of this anti-artistic slump I was in and allowed me to glow with creativity. This semester most certainly, even violently shifted my previously weak artistic ability into a blossoming fountain of color, originality, and uniqueness. Had a lot of fun this semester, can't wait until the next one!

My Three Favorites

These three were my favorite pieces I created through out the course of this class. These works are what I put the most work, thought, and effort into and I believe they came out just perfectly. The list goes in order from top to bottom, with Crixalis being my favorite and Event Horizon being my third favorite. I was partial to my mythical beast because I am a long time fantasy lover and I had a ton of fun creating a story for my deadly predators.

Pop Art

I very much enjoyed this final project, although my Photoshop version got lost somewhere in the servers unfortunately. No matter though, I still loved the project and thought the back story of Pop Art changing and shaping the 20th century, because of people like Shepard Fairey, the famous Hope Obama Poster Creator, really drove me to make one similar to it's comic book style. Here I was able to use Flash, and using it in conjunction with Photoshop  permitted me to further expand upon the artistic software that I had already learned to use previously.

Unfortunately, with my Photoshop sketch being lost to the servers, I only have my Flash-Photoshop Pop Art to present. I really loved creating this one though. The technology was simple, yet antiquated enough to bring about creativity. I enjoy my work I did on my hand, which is the best looking part of this art in my opinion. What was difficult for me was my hair and eyebrows, as I could now create a happy medium for hair spikes for a long time before I finally got it down.

Mythical Beasts

On this project I really learned about the true art of beings and creatures in mythical settings. The surreal artists, like Sigmund Freud, behind the advancement of magical worlds and animals led interesting lives that led to the blooming of such surreal places and animals really inspired me to try a twist on my own favorite animal, the scorpion. It really let me witness the true power behind editing software that can allow true artists to thrive.

I was rather pleased with how my Mango Fish turned out. I'm absolutely terrible at drawing animals, so the fish was an obvious choice due to their simple structure. It was rather easy using clone stamp tool, and was a good creature to follow up on.

This is by far one of my favorite pieces I made all semester. I believe scorpions are powerful, symbolic, and incredibly interesting creatures, so I did a twist on them, encasing them in crystals and stone. The result was the Crixalis Scorpion, who dwell in hostile habitats such as my previous Landscape. It turned out nicely, and I really enjoyed this picture more than most of my other paintings for the whole semester.

Landscapes

In the Landscape assignments I really learned the techniques behind distance and sizes of items when effected by it. It allowed me to further learn the complexities housed within Photoshop and expand my artistry further. In addition, I learned the proper ways of water brushing as well as Van Gogh's art style being incorporated into basic art.

Here I was just trying out a basic meadow with a cloud overhead. Not bad, not exactly exciting, but a good introduction to landscapes.

I took my original meadow here and applied a water brush to it to give off a painterly feel. I'm not very pleased with this, as I have many problems keeping on a tedious task such as water brushing, and it really tested my patience and I'm not so happy with the result.

Again with my original meadow but with a twist, a spin of Van Gogh! I felt that this was actually really good, I preferred the larger bots I ended up with compared to many other's smaller ones, it just felt like a more artistic painting to me.

Finally, my ultimate masterpiece. I'm very pleased with this painting, I put a lot of effort into it to create that desolate, forsaken, Mordor-esque feeling. Although the shadows are barely noticeable, I feel like the picture as a whole turned out beautiful and powerful, despite the shading shortcomings.

Color Wheel

This is just your basic color wheel, I actually already knew a great deal of the mechanics of it prior to making this. Just a little refresher to get me ready for the Landscapes, although I sadly did not have the time to make a landscape using these specific color mixes.

Space Scapes

On these assignments I really got to know and understand artistic software that is used today, specifically Corel Painter and Photoshop. It really helped catapult me into the class and get me that fun, interesting feel Digital Arts would continue to uphold through the semester.

This was my first digitally rendered art ever. I am pleased with how it came out for my first piece of art, but I still have a tick about the fuzzy background stars and the too-uniform colored stars.

Here I was mostly trying to do a richer, deeper color scheme that I tend to be drawn towards. I really like this one, as I just feel the contrast is very eye-catching and fun to look at. I could've done work on the stars though.

The moon on this is my favorite part of this picture. I tried to go with a Saturn feeling, but I really don't like the dullness and grainy effects that resulted from my face on the planet as well as the rings.

This is by far my favorite of the Space Scapes as well as the one I tried the hardest on. I love the orange-teal contrast that gives off a very spacial feeling, as well as the blurred edges of the planets, giving off a deeper celestial look. An Event Horizon is the edge of a Black Hole which is the point where light can no longer escape, by the way.
